Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, Big D and the Kids Table is a ska punk band that formed in 1995. They are famed for producing and engineering all of their own albums.
The band came together when the members were all at Berklee College of Music in Boston. They developed a large cult following in the early days, selling out local bars and clubs. They established their own label called Fork in Hand Records and released their first album “Shot By Lammi”. It wasn’t long until their label had signed bands from the Boston area, building a ska punk scene. Out of the label came an annual Halloween show in their hometown.
It was in 1999 that Big D decided to sign with Asian Man Records to release their debut full-length album “Good Luck”. They picked up the ‘Outstanding Ska Band’ award at the Boston Music Awards. Around this point in the band’s career they were playing roughly two hundred shows a year. The band were no strangers to doing things differently, including when the band decided to release a gangsta rap album of their songs that they recorded in 2000 on Fork in Hand Records. They earned the opportunity to play on the Vans Warped Tour in 2003. In 2004 they embarked on the Ska Is Dead tour with Mustard Plug and the Planet Smashers. It was also around this time that the band had the opportunity to tour with some of the biggest names in ska music such as Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto. Big D became regular visitors of the Vans Warped Tour, having featured on a compilation in 2005. In March 2007, the band released “Strictly Rude”, and quickly hit the road for another tour alongside Alexisonfire and Set Your Goals.
Big D released “Fluent In Stroll” on July 7th 2009, and played the Vans Warped Tour that summer, promoting their album. The autumn of this year saw the band play their second headline tour. On June 11th 2013, Big D released, “Stomp & Stroll”.
