Luis Fonsi is a singer and composer hailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, United States who was born on April 15th, 1978. Since his debut, he has released eight studio albums and has become one of the most successful Puerto Rican artists of his generation.
You don't get named the “Leader of Latin Music's New Generation” for nothing, and Luis Fonsi is very much the kind of artist that would get that kind of reception in whatever kind of music he wanted to play. Deciding to pursue a music career after graduating high school, Fonsi moved to Florida to study at the State University's School of Music on a full scholarship and by the time he left, he had signed a record deal with Universal Music Latino. In 1998, aged just 20 years old, Fonsi released his debut album “Comenzare” (“I Will Begin”) which was a huge hit in his native Puerto Rico and all accross the Latin American territories. However, Fonsi had his sites set on the world, and began his plan for global domination by collaborating with Christina Aguilera on her 2000 Spanish language album “Mi Reflejo”.
This plan came to fruition in 2003, with the release of his fifth album “Abrazar La Vida”, which took him accross the Atlantic, making him a bona-fide celebrity in Spain and all over Europe. Ever since then his records have continued to sell by the truck-load, and his live shows take him to packed out arenas all over the world. He's also one of the very few people to ever perform for both Pope John Paul II and President Barack Obama. As if that wasn't enough, he's also an accomplished actor, with acclaimed appearances in Film, TV and even on Broadway to boot. It would all be infuriating if he wasn't so good at it, and at the time of writing, he's not even 40 yet. For packing more into a career that's far from over than most do in a lifetime, Luis Fonsi comes highly recommended.
