Rich Homie Quan, (born Dequantes Lamar, October 4th 1989) is a rapper from Atlanta, Georgia, and is signed to T.I.G. Entertainment.
Rich Homie Quan, had aspirations of pursuing a professional career in baseball, but when it didn’t materialize, he began rapping and landed himself a job at a nearby airport.
The song “Differences” was the first single from his 2012 debut mix tape “Still Going In”. In 2013 he had the pleasure of touring with Trinidad James. He also featured on Gucci Mane’s 2013 album “Trap House III” on the songs “I Heard”, “Can’t Trust Her” and “Chasin’ Paper”, which featured Young Thug. When he reviews his single “Type of Way”, The New York Times wrote that he is “part of Atlanta’s rising generation of rappers” The song, which was released through Def Jam Recordings, on August 22nd 2013, was ranked number six, on Complex’s 50 Best Songs of 2013. David Drake elaborated by saying “Transforming the concept of ambiguity into a boast, the song was as conceptually clever as Meek Mill’s “Levels” but was easily the more distinctive composition. The song in fact made it to number 50 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and number 8 on the US Rap Songs chart.
Quan was featured on the song “My Nigga” by YG, which featured Young Jeezy and peaked at number 19 on the Hot 100.
“Walk Thru” was another milestone in his career, when he released this song on February 4th 2014, as the lead single from his second mix tape “I Promise I Will Never Stop Going In”. The music video was filmed on May 6th 2014, and Quan suffered from two seizures due to heat exhaustion. The song peaked at number 74 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
