Known by her first name, Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, had made a name for herself as an actress, dance and singer. Already racking up chart success, with a Radio Disney Music Award under her belt, the sky is the limit for this young artist.
Zandaya’s career began working as a model for Macy’s Mervynsn and Old Navy. She later became a star on the Disney Channel, and then as a back up dancer in a commercial starring Selena Gomez. She started turning heads as an artist in her own right when she sang a rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Leave Me Alone” on Shake It Up. She finally released her debut single “Swag It Out” on May 30th 2011. Due to being an independent release, the song didn’t chart, but it did earn Zendaya, the critical acclaim that she needed to boost her status as a credible singer songwriter.
On August 21st 2012, the EP “Made in Japan” was released. It was collaboration between Zendaya and fellow singer Bella Thorne. Being a soundtrack for the TV show Shake It Up, it featured the songs “Fashion Is My Kryptonite”, “The Same Heart”, “Made in Japan” and a music video for “Fashion Is My Kryptonite”. The release shot to the top of the charts, making it to number 13 in the Billboard 200 chart, number 2 in the Billboard Top Soundtracks and number 1 on the Billboard Kid Albums. It also made the charts in Spain, France and Portugal.
The following release the year after, was a full-length studio album that featured many of the household Disney names, with Zendaya featuring on “Contagious Love”, “This Is My Dance Floor” and “Beat of My Drum”. It achieved similar chart success to the last release, making it to the number 1 spot on the Billboard Kid Albums.
On July 16th 2013, Zendaya released the singled “Replay” which became a single in countries around the world, but most notably going Platinum in the U.S.
